Here are the game rules; learn and excel to become the ultimate Megachess champion:
- Turns are limited to 25 seconds instead of the usual approach.
- Pawns can move in all directions (though they can only capture diagonally).
- Bishops have the option to shift horizontally or vertically 1 square once per piece (as they begin on the same color).
- You are not required to make a conventional move like in traditional chess.
- Being in checkmate does not equate to a loss; you must actually capture a king (or have yours captured) to defeat an opponent.
- When you capture a king, you gain control of all the pieces that were under its command, allowing you to amass a formidable army!
- During your turn, you can execute a minimum of 4 moves (each with a different piece) and a maximum of 16 moves - earning an additional move for every 4 pieces you acquire beyond the starting 16.
- En Passant and Castling are not included in this variant.
- Pawns cannot be promoted in this game either. This is primarily because the board's edge is quite distant and also because pieces can be obtained through other methods.
- The turn timer is displayed at the top of the screen. It alternates from black to white; when it's white, all light-colored pieces are allowed to move, and when it's black, the darker pieces take their turn. Be cautious when trying to squeeze in that final move, as your pieces might get displaced when the opposing team begins their turn.
